Position summary

The School Improvement Specialist is a member of the Professional Development Department and is focused on ensuring a high-touch, high-quality professional development experience for our customers. He/she will assist with the oversight of large PD projects. The School Improvement Specialist thinks strategically, understands internal processes, and interacts well with a wide range of personalities in various positions and levels. He/she maintains excellent communication with internal and external customers keeping complex priorities in balance. The School Improvement Specialist is adept at making strategic decisions, problem-solving, and focuses on the big picture with the ability to navigate details to ensure the continued and accelerated growth of PD.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Supports the fidelity and implementation of our authors’ vision for PD services 
  • Assists authors with development of PD services in focus areas 
  • Advocates for marketing and promotion of PD products and services 
  • Acts as a point of contact for large projects and troubleshoots any issues that arise 
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to coordinate project kick-offs, check-ins, internal handoffs, and final deliveries for focus areas
  • Assists authors with form design and completion of document templates relating to PD services 
  • Liaison with the sales team to ensure that they understand our focus area PD content 
  • Assists with the content and agenda development for associate trainings in focus areas
  • Attends sales meetings with customers to assist with the design of services in focus areas
  • Leads some project management update meetings, in focus areas
  • Works with Director of Implementation to develop metrics to report on progress of large projects           
  • Assists with optimizing internal project management processes and systems
  • Demonstrates ability to understand company products and services
  • Travels to customer sites as needed
  • Ability to work effectively in a multiple-deadline environment
  • Performs other work duties as assigned

Minimum requirements

This is a full-time position, with occasional travel required.  As the School Improvement Specialist, you will contribute to our goal of maintaining our position as the premier K–12 professional development provider in North America. The best candidate will have experience with turnaround school populations and state-level program/project management experience. Our company desires team members who have a customer service orientation, need little supervision and are committed to team success. Candidates must be self-motivated with an eye for detail and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities are critical.  Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy are required. A Master’s degree or higher is preferred and proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
