Event Programs Editor

Position summary

The Event Programs Editor manages multiple concurrent projects for Solution Tree’s events. Editors ensure the timely delivery of complete, accurate, high-quality printed materials to Solution Tree events. The editor assembles, proofs, edits, and coordinates the production of event programs, pocket agendas, handouts, 2-day workshop programs, signage, and any other material requested by the Events Department. They work with other departments to ensure accuracy in all information, build relationships with presenters, and prepare files for the printer.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Works collaboratively and communicates closely with all members of the Event Programs Team to ensure quality work
  • Takes lead editor position for a portion of the yearly schedule, managing materials, deadlines, and relationships with presenters personally
  • Aids other editors with their projects, meeting deadlines as assigned
  • Communicates with presenters to inform them of deadlines and submissions requirements
  • Collects, edits, and prepares files for printing, following current practices and collaborating with fellow editors and working closely with presenters as needed
  • Assesses permissions issues and ensures that copyright law is followed
  • Manages tasks responsibly in order to complete all necessary tasks on time and ensure delivery of completed materials onsite
  • Coordinates with Marketing to receive up-to-date covers and advertisements; coordinates agenda, content, and presenter lineup with Presenter Contracting Specialist
  • Returns proofed files to presenters
  • Actively evaluates current editorial practices, creating detailed proposals for improvements
  • Attends all weekly staff and team meetings, contributing as needed

Minimum requirements

A college degree is required. Superior communication, organization, empathy, and editing skills are essential, along with expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, and Adobe Acrobat.  A professional demeanor, aptitude in providing and accepting constructive feedback, and project management skills will prove indispensable to this position. Qualified applicants must demonstrate proficiency on an editorial test, and further training is provided upon employment.
