Professional Development Data Specialist

The Data Specialist is a member of the Professional Development department and works with the internal staff. He/she has the ability to analyze and think logically. This person is able to input data in a timely fashion and access data in an ongoing way so as to make it usable in both guiding and making decisions. Top candidates for this position are action-oriented, confident, and organized. Working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, the Data Specialist is comfortable working collaboratively with others, adjusting timelines and deadlines, and is able to manipulate the data in a variety of ways so as to best meet internal needs. He or she is adept at problem-solving, has initiative and strong communication skills.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Discusses information or business intelligence needs with internal staff specifically around presenter deficit areas, challenges, and celebrations
  • Collects and collates appropriate data for use in databases and conducts related research
  • Generates reports for PD department use and other stakeholders and using IT / database systems
  • Assists with report analysis
  • Presents data in a variety of ways based on internal and external customer need
  • Monitors and maintains the quality of database systems and secures access and use
  • Assists in development and upgrading of database systems and analytical techniques
  • Maintains an updated evaluation system
  • Makes certain that evaluations are sent in advance of all PD workshops and works to ensure high response rates. Coordinates with PD, Operations and our warehouse to accomplish this
  • Acts as liaison to Operations department to ensure that evaluations are properly tracked and are scanned in a timely manner
  • Manages an electronic communication system between Solution Tree and its presenters
  • Manages details of work from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Juggles and prioritizes competing tasks and demands from multiple projects successfully
  • Uses poise and professionalism to get the job done well and on time
  • Creates collaborative relationships with colleagues so that their confidence in you is second to none
  • Performs other duties as needed by the Professional Development department

Minimum requirements

The ideal candidate is self-motivated with strong analytical skills. Our company desires team members who have a customer service orientation, need little supervision, and are committed to team success. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities. Success in this role requires good listening and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic database programs is essential.
