Position Summary:

The Vice President (VP) of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing our sales strategy, building and managing our sales team and driving revenue growth. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in sales leadership, client acquisition, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure contracted sales goals are achieved.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Create and maintain a culture of execution and goal attainment within the sales team.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the performance of the sales team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Establish and maintain key customer relationships, while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal department teams such as marketing, professional development, events, the press, Ed. Tech, and customer success teams to ensure cohesive strategies and messaging.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership to set and achieve ambitious sales targets, while managing budgets and forecasting future sales.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform sales strategies and product development.
  • Identify areas for improvement and create programs that address these areas with a success mindset.
  • Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives.

Position Type

This is a full-time position. Days and hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work and travel are also required as job duties demand.

Travel

Overnight and out-of-state travel is required for this position. The amount of travel is directly related to attending leadership meetings in addition to sales-related travel which will vary. Estimated travel overall is 60-70% during peak selling and event seasons, and 50% during normal times of the year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of sales experience, with a proven track record in a senior sales leadership role.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing sales team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep understanding of sales processes, CRM software, and sales analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and team members.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution, with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Familiarity with the education industry and market trends, with the ability to adapt strategies in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ideal candidates will reside within commuting distance to the Bloomington, IN, Solution Tree corporate office.
